The Sultanate of Oman at the Japan Cooperation Center for Petroleum and Sustainable Energy Conference in the Japanese capital, Tokyo.

The Ministry's delegation to the conference was headed by His Excellency Mohsen bin Hamad Al Hadhrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, who stressed the importance of developing national competencies to keep pace with the requirements of the energy transition, in addition to the role of international cooperation in supporting these efforts, which contributes to achieving sustainable development and enhancing the use of clean energy sources.

His Excellency met with a number of officials from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, where developments in the energy transition were discussed, including Japan's policy in this field, the role of renewable energy and hydrogen in electricity generation, heavy industries, and the logistics sector.
The delegation also visited a number of leading companies in the fields of energy and technology, where His Excellency visited Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to learn about the latest technologies in electricity generation turbines that operate on natural gas and hydrogen, in addition to electrolysis technologies for producing hydrogen, and the role these technologies play in supporting the energy transition. The visit also included a number of iron and steel companies, where the sector's aspirations towards using clean hydrogen in production processes were discussed.

In the transportation sector, His Excellency visited Toyota to learn about global and local trends in the use of hydrogen as a sustainable fuel, and met with a number of Japanese commercial companies importing Omani LNG, where they discussed the latest developments in the energy market and enhanced opportunities for future cooperation.
This visit comes within the framework of the Sultanate of Oman’s efforts to enhance international cooperation in the fields of sustainable energy and benefit from the latest technologies to support energy transformation strategies, which contributes to achieving national goals for energy and economic and environmental sustainability.
