UAE hands over presidency of 115th session of Arab Economic and Social Council to Bahrain

The Social Committee of the Arab Economic and Social Council held a meeting to prepare the draft agenda related to the social file of the session, where the United Arab Emirates handed over the presidency of the preparatory meetings for the 115th session of the Arab Economic and Social Council, which was launched at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League, to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The UAE delegation, headed by Mr. Jumaa Mohammed Al Kait, Assistant Undersecretary for International Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, included Mr. Ahmed bin Suleiman Al Malik, Head of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry, and Mr. Mohammed Saleh Shalwah, Advisor to the Minister of Economy.


Mr. Juma Al Kait delivered his speech during the opening session, in which he stressed the UAE's permanent commitment to supporting all frameworks of joint Arab action in various fields, including the social aspect and related important projects and initiatives, based on the vision and directives of its wise leadership.

He said that the UAE, during its presidency of the Council in its 114th session, was keen to support and endorse various Arab efforts made to achieve progress in the social aspect, which would positively reflect on the reality of sustainable and comprehensive development.


He stressed the importance of continuing joint efforts to implement various decisions of the 114th session of the Economic and Social Council, which constitute a fundamental pillar and a roadmap for achieving our common goals in the fields of economy and social development.


He handed over the presidency of the current session to the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain, wishing it every success in supporting Arab development efforts and enriching the efforts of the Arab Economic and Social Council in various fields and sectors that contribute to the progress and prosperity of our countries and all Arab feelings.


The draft agenda of the Social Committee included following up on the implementation of the decisions of the 114th session of the Economic and Social Council and the activities of the General Secretariat between the two sessions of the Council “114-115”, and the draft agenda also included the social aspects of the economic and social file of the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level in its 34th regular session in Iraq.
