Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, the UAE's national low-cost airline, has announced the launch of flights to Varna, Bulgaria, and Baneasa, Bucharest, further expanding its Eastern European destination portfolio and reinforcing its commitment to providing reliable, affordable travel solutions for all passengers.

The two new routes offer passengers direct access to two of Europe's most prestigious cities at competitive fares.

Flights to Varna operate three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays), while flights to Baneasa, Bucharest, are available four times a week (Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays). Tickets are currently available online at wizzair.com and through the airline's Arabic-language mobile app.

The launch of the new route to Varna marks a significant milestone for the aviation sector in the region. Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is the only airline operating this route between the UAE and Bulgaria. The connection between these two prominent destinations opens up new opportunities for travelers, providing them with reliable service at affordable prices.

Johan Idhagen, Managing Director of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, said: “We are delighted to add Varna, Bulgaria, and Baneasa, Bucharest, to our growing network. These are two vibrant European cities that offer a unique blend of culture, history, and adventure.

These two routes provide additional, low-cost travel options for travelers, allowing them to explore a range of popular and new destinations. Wizz Air Abu Dhabi continues its efforts to reduce travel costs and make it accessible for all, and we look forward to welcoming passengers on board our flights connecting the UAE to many exciting new destinations around the world.”

Dr. Frank Quante, CEO of Fraport Twin Star Airports Management, said: “We have been working for many years to enhance connectivity with the Arabian Gulf region, and we are delighted that Wizz Air has announced flights from Abu Dhabi.

This move opens up many opportunities in Bulgaria’s Black Sea region, contributing to enhanced travel access and tourism development.”

Wizz Air is using the airport in Baneasa as a gateway to the Romanian capital, Bucharest, due to its strategic location in the city center, providing quick access to the city’s architectural monuments, heritage sites, and tourist attractions.

The move from Henri Coandă International Airport to Baneasa has reduced the travel time to Bucharest city center, improving the passenger experience.
